Persistent Hypoglycemia in a Non-Diabetic Patient
Submitted by Dr. Ben Carter on 5/18/2024
A 45-year-old male presents with recurrent episodes of symptomatic hypoglycemia, with glucose levels dropping to the 40s (mg/dL). He is not diabetic and denies use of insulin or oral hypoglycemic agents. A 72-hour fast is being considered to investigate for a possible insulinoma. The patient's C-peptide and insulin levels during a spontaneous episode were inappropriately high.
