Unusual Cardiac Arrhythmia in a Young Athlete
Submitted by Dr. Ben Carter on 5/15/2024

A 22-year-old collegiate soccer player presented with recurrent episodes of palpitations and syncope during high-intensity training. Initial ECG shows a complex arrhythmia pattern not consistent with typical athlete's heart. The patient has no significant past medical history or family history of cardiac disease. This case presents a diagnostic challenge.

Interesting case. Could this be an underlying channelopathy? Recommend genetic testing for Long QT syndrome and Brugada syndrome.

Agreed with Dr. Sharma. Also, let's get a cardiac MRI to rule out arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy (ARVC).
